“Five….Five Dollar….

Five Dollars Goes a Lonnnng Waaaaay!”

We’ve all and seen and heard the Subway commercial umpteen times regarding their $5 sub special. Give them credit – it’s a catchy slogan and five bucks for a footlong sandwich is a good deal! I had one of their new Buffalo Chicken footlongs there today, and I didn’t leave hungry!

With that good deal in mind, I’d like to pose an important question that pertains to The Timothy Network. Would you give $5 each month to see discipling ministry go a long way? If you’re reading this letter, you’re part of The Timothy Network – a project that has slowly expanded over the past four years into many discipling cells and about 130 people. You’ve experienced our equippingwork first hand. You’ve seen it “up close and personal” and have been part of what we’re trying to accomplish. You, better than others, know what intentional disciple making is about.

Please give me just a minute to tell you why we need your help and how $5 a month can make a big difference. This shouldn’t be painful 🙂

Although the focus of Timothy Network is disciple making, keeping the ministry financially stable is an ongoing and challenging task. There’s a constant need to locate supporting dollars and to make them go a long way. Having financial support from those of you already involved in our work goes a long way when we’re asking support from others. It’s a testimony that validates our mission.

Anybody who hasn’t felt the pinch in this economy must be a Gates or a Trump. Churches and non-profit ministries like ours have been especially vulnerable over the past year. The “ticklish” balance lies in asking for help while knowing that you, me – all of us are in the same boat. All Americans are pinching pennies, cutting back, and in some cases finding it necessary to give less. Believe me, this ministry has felt the effect of economic downturn this year.

Several who are reading this already support The Timothy Network. We appreciate your help enormously, and we’re not asking that you give more! We just hope you’ll be able to continue giving at the level for which you’ve already committed. For others who haven’t been able to help due to tight budgets, however, we hope that a $5 monthly gift might be possible. Five dollars multiplied by a hundred of you would add $500 per month to our operating budget. This would be significant! And we can make it even easier by accepting automatic bankdraft deposits. Let me know if you’re interested in this giving arrangement, and I’ll send the appropriate forms to help you get started. We will, of course, be most happy to accept mail-in gifts.

By God’s grace, Timothy Network is impacting lives. God wired each of us to be relational, and a core feature of this mission is making disciples by relational investment in lives. We were meant to live in community and be vessels of God’s love to a lost world. Relational discipling ministry works, and I passionately believe it’s the way the church will reach the world. We’re making progress. Please give a little and help a lot!
